Buckettys Brewery

North by North

Bucketty’s brewery is a fitout of an existing warehouse in Brookvale, Northern Beaches. The overall design intent was to reuse, recycle and repurpose. With that in mind, the majority of the fitout already had a life before it became part of a microbrewery, from the giant tables made from timber from a demolished 100 year old bridge, to the pallets donated by Brookvale local businesses, the kitchen cupboards repurposed into dart boards and the rusted iron bar cladding salvaged from a farm shed that had fallen over in high winds.

The brief was to bring a touch of Bucketty and the Bush to Brookvale. The fitout was to provide a community, relaxed and family friendly atmosphere that allowed patrons to while away a lazy Sunday. It was to have a touch of the unexpected mashed with the Bush or to coin the brand was to induce a “ a bucketty state of mind”. The design works encompass the bar design, the wall signage, all joinery design and lighting. Everything was to be designed to easily “DIYable” due to budget.

The major investment by the client was channelled into the brewing capacity beer, so the fitout had to capture the imagination of the local punters, represent the brand and provide a welcoming atmosphere on a limited budget. Through a speedy design and collaboration process the resulting fitout is a triumph of northern beaches community spirit with an overlay of Bucketty.
